  • Canadian Health and Care Mall: Phony foods for Fake Bodies

To throw even more salt on the open wound, manufactured food products have had essential nutrients removed to improve shelf life and sales revenues. I, too, ate edible manufactured garbage for many years, and I have suffered the physical degeneration that develops from malnutrition and chemical toxicity. I used to have an awesome childhood fantasy, which included owning a crystal fortress and possessing great superpowers of flight, x-ray vision and uncanny strength like the man of steel. Many other children have also dreamed to become the successor to their favorite comic book superheroes. However, outside our dreams we must realize that real food is what will grant us strength, power, and ultimately, health. Delectable imitations and phony foods have become our kryptonite. How did these foods enter the standard American diet? How can we avoid them? Phony foods

    THE ILLUSION OF “ENRICHED BREAD”

Nature packages foods to contain dozens and sometimes hundreds of phytonutrients, minerals, enzymes, amino acids, fatty acids, and perhaps other undiscovered nutrients needed to run the biochemical processes inside our cells like the Krebs cycle, electron transport, glycolysis and gluconeogenesis which break down certain nutrients and convert them into energy. Refining and processing destroys or removes the majority of these vital nutrients. As a result, the body’s reserves become depleted, leading to physical symptoms.

For example, a whole-wheat kernel containing hundreds of known nutrients, is composed of three parts:

    1. Bran (mainly fiber)
    2. Endosperm (the starch and gluten)
    3. Germ (enzymes, vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids)

Who knows what other nutrients scientists will continue to discover in whole food sources each year?

Unfortunately, in order to improve the shelf life of wheat flour products, food manufacturers remove and discard the bran and germ, leaving only the starch and gluten. Oftentimes the refined flour is bleached to ensure no enzymes remain alive in the product, thus preventing it from decomposing. This process leaves the flour white. Manufacturers then spray a few synthetically made vitamins back into the refined flour and label it as “enriched” or “fortified”.

The word “enriched” means “to improve the quality of; to make a valuable addition to”. If someone steals SI ,000 from you and returns six monopoly dollars back, do you feel enriched? Do you feel fortified? This is known as nutritional robbery.

The germ of a wheat kernel is an excellent source of the Vitamin B complex, essential fatty acids (linoleic, palmitic, oleic, alpha-linolenic), fat soluble Vitamin E complex, octacosanol, minerals (potassium, iron, calcium, zinc, magnesium, chromium, phosphorous, manganese, copper, selenium) and many more essential nutrients which are used and stored in organs and tissues. The consumption of processed foods robs the body’s store of nutrients, leaving organs hungry for more nutrient dense foods. If your organs are never fed these, they begin to break down or fatigue, giving rise to symptoms. Avoid all white flour products, including those that claim to have been enriched or fortified.
